West Indies begin their quest for a spot at next year World Cup when they face minnows United Arab Emirates in their opening match of the ICC World Cup Qualifiers from this morning (3.30am T&T time), hoping to turn the page on their ordinary form.

The Caribbean side struggled on the slow pitches in Zimbabwe in their two warm-up matches, sensationally losing to Afghanistan before rebounding to narrowly beat UAE and escape embarrassment.
