Families seek $6m from State*

THE families of three people killed by police in Moruga almost seven years ago are now seeking millions of dollars in compensation from the State for the deaths of their relatives.
In a trial that came up for hearing before Justice Kevin Ramcharan at the Hall of Justice in Port of Spain yesterday, the families of Allana Duncan, Kerron Eccles and Abigail Johnson are seeking a combined total of more than $6 million in damages.
They are claiming the three people were wrongfully killed and are asking for compensation for dependency under the Compensation of Injuries Act, “and for psychiatric injury sustained by the claimants due to the untimely death of the deceased”.
