ALIJAH LESLIE will make a return after an absence of seven months when the singles qualifying draws for the Shell Tranquillity Open Tennis Tournament are contested at the club’s courts, Victoria Avenue, Port of Spain. Although Leslie was not seen after the Tobago Open at the end of July, he was one of the leading juniors of the season, as in addition to being crowned national under-14 champion, he won two under-16 titles and reached two other singles finals.
Leslie is among 30 players in the men’s field and he is seeded third in his attempt to secure one of eight places in the main draw of 32. Six of the eight seeds are in fact juniors, with the others being Jordan Mukerji (No.2) and Nathen Valdez (No. 4) as well as Luca Shamsi, Charles Devaux and Sebastian Sylvester, who are seeded sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively.
