Al-Rawi: I’ve lost family to accidents *

Bill to increase speeding to 100km per hour...

Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi

ATTORNEY General Faris Al-Rawi on Friday evening recalled holding the lifeless body of his cousin in his arms following a vehicular accident on the highway a few years ago, and almost losing his twin sister in another accident.

During his contribution to The Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic (Amendment) Bill, 2017, in the House of Representatives, Al-Rawi joined his Parliamentary colleagues in decrying the “culture” of speeding in T&T.

He recalled that his cousin, who was like his little brother, had come to Trinidad for Carnival and was driving on the highway when he was struck by another vehicle.

“I lost a beautiful loving little brother, my first cousin, very much like my brother to an accident on the highway. He was visiting from France, his father is French, his mother is my mother's sister,” he said.
