Rate review for T&TEC and WASA*

ARE water and electricity rate increases on the ­horizon?
This was the question many on social media site Facebook were asking yesterday following an announcement by the Regulated Industries Commission (RIC) that it has begun a price review process for the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) and the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA).
The last rate increase for WASA was in 1993, while the last for T&TEC was in 2006.
The RIC said the price review process for both utilities will consist of three phases, to be completed by June next year.
It said the first phase will entail the publication and circulation of the RIC document “Framework and Approach”, which outlines the process that the RIC will follow to conduct the reviews.
