The youthful Centric Cricket Academy returned home with the lion share of the silverware following a successful three-match tour against Worldwide Academy over the Labour Day weekend (Sept 2-5) at the Miramar Regional Park, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Based in central Trinidad, the Academy, which was launched in June, was on its first overseas assignment and came up trumps by sweeping the three-match series 3-0 against their more matured counterparts.

Giovanni Gajadhar, Z. Dookree and Vasant Singh turned in good performances with the ball, as Gajadhar snared three wickets for 12 runs in his four-over spell while Dookree picked up two wickets in conceding 13 runs off three overs and Singh had figures of one for 17.

Gajadhar picked up the Man-of-the-Match award for his spell with the ball.

At the end of the series, Villafana copped the "Most Valuable Player" award for his exploits with the bat. He scored 143 runs at an average of 71.5. And Singh, who picked up seven wickets at an economy rate of 4.56 and a series best 3/31, won the "Best Bowler" award.
